TEXAS LONGHORNS
Texas Longhorns have been around since the early 1800’s. They became a symbol of Texas in the 1860’s and continue to represent the romance of the old west. They are intelligent, beautiful, and docile creatures. Known for their characteristic horns, which average 70 to 80 inches tip to tip. Their hides come in many different colors ranging from black, brown, red, white, or any combination of these colors. It is interesting to note, that a calf’s color can change is it matures.
They are very hearty creatures that are resistant to the majority of diseases that plague other cattle. They calve easily, and can breed into their 20’s.
Longhorn meat is very lean, high in protein, and enhanced by the animal’s grass-fed diet. Meat derived from the Texas Longhorn is quite a bit healthier for human consumption than beef derived from Angus beef cattle.
